Astral travel and lucid dreaming allow us to access great wisdom. This wisdom is only available to us in a state of expanded consciousness. We can learn to travel using only our consciousness. This is a powerful method of receiving guidance.
Many people don’t know where to start when it comes to astral travel and lucid dreaming. Think about it like this – these two experiences are an extension of the states of consciousness we access during dreaming. Except that you are awake. Astral travel and lucid dreaming are states of consciousness where we can gain insight not otherwise available in the overthinking mind state. As we enter into these ‘dreaming’ states, we are aware of the guidance being provided to us through the dreaming story. We can control the dreaming, the direction we go and the questions we ask within the dream.
It is not a passive process. We, as the ‘dreamer’ play an active role in astral travel and lucid dreaming states. This is why they are very helpful for boosting wellbeing and overall wellness. Because we can utilize them to create our future and gain freedom from what holds us back.
Similar to shamanic states of consciousness, lucid dreaming and astral travel involve imagination and creativity. However, they don’t involve the same shamanic world view. In the shamanic world view, everything is energy and there are various energetic dimensions/spirits that support our passage through the physical world. Because the shamanic world view details important ideals to follow, it can be more structured, leading to better results.
Shamanism also involves many layers of study and learning in order to provide shamanic healing to a client. When delving into consciousness, having a trained guide or trusted mentor can be very valuable. Awakening processes can involve very unstable energy at times. Having someone familiar with these processes is an important aspect of the guidance.
Nevertheless, lucid dreaming and astral travel are wonderful tools for wellbeing. But, they must be utilized in environments and under conditions that are supportive of good outcomes. They should not be used without the care and attention that is needed for any work involving consciousness.
Our upcoming series on astral travel and lucid dreaming will provide more detail on how to access the states in a way that supports wellbeing not detracts from it.
