Destination Gold Coast has completely nailed their latest advertising campaign. Targeted to New Zealanders, the high energy campaign speaks to the amazing connection that Australia and New Zealand have. There is so much to appreciate and value in our special relationship, both at a destination and personal level.
The new campaign shares special messages from New Zealanders living on the Gold Coast back to their family and friends in New Zealand. As Tyrone (who appears in the campaign) says “when they are celebrating achievements, you want to be right behind them and tell them to bask in their moment.”
We cheer each other on, across the seas. And that is something that cannot be underestimated. The power of connection between Australia and New Zealand is strong.
The Gold Coast has so much to offer, with natural beauty and vibe taking centre stage. No wonder it attracts many New Zealanders visiting or moving to Australian shores!
We wanted to know more about the campaign and how to unlock the secrets of travelling in the Gold Coast. We asked Destination Gold Coast CEO, Patricia O’Callaghan for her thoughts and tips.
What is the intent behind the campaign?
“Our video rallies Kiwis to take in the Gold Coast’s scenic views, sparkling waters and 300 days of sunshine with a heartfelt message that we genuinely miss you and can’t wait to see you. Personal messages from our very proud Gold Coast Kiwis are intended to remind our mates across the ditch to reunite with family and friends on the Gold Coast. Destination Gold Coast’s aim is to keep the region front-of-mind whilst both countries eagerly await a more definitive date for trans-Tasman quarantine-free travel.”
Why do New Zealanders love the Gold Coast?
“Kiwis have a strong affinity with the Gold Coast and pre-COVID, we were the second most popular Australian holiday destination for New Zealand travellers. If you’ve ever been to the Gold Coast, you’d know we have our fair share of sunshine, beaches, cafes and shopping – no wonder so many Kiwis call it home.”
How do travellers unlock the hidden secrets of the Gold Coast, to find an unparalleled experience?
“From our stunning beaches and beautiful rainforest scenery, to our thriving café culture, playful experiences and friendly locals, sun-soaked fun awaits you at every corner on the Gold Coast. The Gold Coast is New Zealand’s favourite holiday playground and with so much to see and do, our Gold Coast Play Guide will help you source inspiration for your next holiday.”
The Headspace and Bass Movement says “bring on the Trans Tasman Bubble!”
