Excerpt from ‘The Upside-Down World’ by Bec Robertson
If you cannot handle the flames of the fire, don’t jump in. There are many people who want to live big. But they aren’t prepared to handle the discomfort, responsibility, and effort.
Living big, following your dreams, and smashing through barriers are not fairytale stories. There is no fairy godmother who will come along with a wand and make everything perfect.
You must do the work yourself. And this means there will be challenge, there will be battle and there will be fights along the way. If that makes you want to crawl back under the doona, you have two choices. 1. Crawl back under the doona and be miserable or 2. Get out there, get going, and make it happen.
Living your future right now is a spiritual experience. But that doesn’t mean it is all Zen, pastel colors, herbal teas, going to yoga, meditating, and essential oils. Quite the opposite.
There is a time and place for spiritual warriors to rest and gather strength. But the act of going after your dreams is never going to be pretty. Your dreams won’t appear to you on a platter or in gift wrapping. No. You will have to put in effort.
Take a rest from pushing forward as and when you need it. But once you feel rested, use that energy to bring a solid piece of your future into the here and now.
