Food is connection. A lot of people think that having a healthy body is about calories in/calories out, restriction and controlling your diet. But food is a spiritual experience. It doesn’t just sustain our bodily systems but also our soul/spirit.
The concept of dieting is a product of the consumer marketing brigade. Marketers come up with clever ways to sell ‘new’ ideas, concepts and information. This is packaged in a way that makes people feel all their problems will be solved if they just go on a protein shake diet or buy the latest fad cookbook.
The love and consumption of food should not be interfered with by the hands of marketers, corporations or ‘health’ businesses with vested interests in profits.
A healthy lifestyle including good foods and high activity levels is your strongest ticket to health. Food should connect you back to nature and thus spirit. If it comes in excess plastic packaging, with additives and fillers, it simply isn’t food. It is a lab created science experiment. Your body doesn’t need that.
Our bodies need nutrients. Nutrients come from eating a variety of fresh foods such as whole fruits and vegetables, raw nuts/seeds and edible plants. Nutrients don’t come in the form of highly processed foods, preservatives, additives, fillers, chemicals and emulsifiers.
Moreover, our spirit/soul needs bliss and joy. There is nothing more wonderous than eating wholefoods that give you energy, vibrancy and lightness. Eating for your soul means eating foods that boost your mood, energy and happiness. Fast food, junk food and processed food will have the reverse effect. You will feel depleted and suffer from mood issues.
Now why bother to eat for health, both of body and spirit? Well, there are many illnesses and diseases that can be reduced by eating a healthy diet and moving your body. These include Alzheimer’s, Type 2 Diabetes and Anxiety/Depression. Consult your doctor or qualified health physician for advice on how to reduce your risk of suffering from these illnesses through improving your lifestyle choices.
Making good choices early in life will have a major impact on your health as you get older. There is evidence to show that the changes in the brain leading to Alzheimer’s can be seen as early as the 20’s in young people. This is a very good reason to live a healthy lifestyle and reduce risk factors.
Feed your body, both at the cellular level and the spirit level. This simple lifestyle change will have major advantages when it comes to reducing the impacts of illnesses and disease. It will also provide a boost to your spiritual connection, which is vital for holistic wellbeing. After all, health is not just physical but mental, emotional and spiritual.
