Snowboarding and Surfing. What do these two things have in common!? New Zealand and Australia!
Many people visit New Zealand for its epic snow destinations in the Southern Alps (Cardrona, Treble Cone, The Remarkables, Coronet Peak). Many people visit Australia for its epic surfing destinations (Northern NSW, Byron Bay NSW, Bells Beach VIC, Margaret River WA).
For a long time, Australians and New Zealanders have taken short plane rides to experience the adventure on the other side of the Tasman Sea. New Zealand and Australia are not just geographically close but also have a strong shared passion for adventure travel.
As a business situated in both Australia and New Zealand, we are thrilled that the two way Trans-Tasman Travel Zone will be up and running soon. A spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Australia confirmed to Headspace and Bass:
“Australia and New Zealand are finalising arrangements for a Trans-Tasman COVID-Safe Travel Zone to enable quarantine-free travel between Australia and New Zealand.
The two-way Safe Travel Zone will commence once both governments agree that all health preconditions have been met.
Any state or territory that imposes travel restrictions consistent with the Commonwealth-defined hotspot will be able to participate, as advised by the acting Chief Medical Officer.”
This is wonderful news for our two countries! And wonderful news for adventure tourism/travel businesses on both side of the Tasman.
BRING IT ON!
