It is easy to turn our attention to the external world. Not so easy to turn our attention inward. Likewise, it is easy to place blame externally. Not so easy to look within and see that our own perspective is often creating the issues in our world.
It is common to feel that our lives are being impacted by other people or situations outside our control. Truthfully, we can’t control everything that happens. However, we can control what opportunities we make of every situation that we find ourselves in.
I don’t agree with the belief that ‘we can’t control everything but we can control our reaction’. It promotes acquiescence. And acquiescence is never a good thing. However, what we can control is what opportunities we decide to make from the situation. There is always opportunity, if we expand our perception to be able to access it.
Expanding our perception involves seeing that we are not a victim of circumstance. We are, in fact, in the driving seat and creating our own reality. We often fail to recognise this, as we look for an external cause for our problems.
When situations challenge you, go inward. Don’t project outward. Use clarity of mind to discern where the opportunity lies. And go after it. Whilst everyone else is playing the victim, you will be sailing ahead towards success.
